Scattered across Vietnam, the banh mi ladies are an excellent source for a delicious cheap meal. Check the bánh mì stall for small cans with fish on them. This is sardines, or cá mòi in Vietnamese. The lady will scoop half of a can into a frying pan and heat it all up before plopping it down on a fresh crispy baguette. Of course, a Vietnamese sandwich wouldn't be complete without some cilantro, pickled carrot and daikon, and cucumber. I think it's the most melt in your mouth sandwich in Vietnam. You can also get banh mi ca moi op la, which is the same thing but with an egg on it. It's a fantastic, quick, and inexpensive breakfast.
